Step by step let’s follow the legend of Ararat. The dwelling mountain of Noah’s Ark according to Holy Book. Turkey’s highest summit 5137m.

The ascent to the glacier is open to everyone, you just need to be fit (no climbing techniques are required).

In summer we can climb to the top with a success rate of more than 90 per cent.

Non-Turkish citizens will be required a climbing visa. To get this permit you will need to send us 2 months before the ascent one copy of your passport and the address of the nearest Turkish consulate where you live.




Day 1: You will arrive in Istanbul airport then transfer to your hotel.

There is the possibility to welcome you and make a tour in Istanbul

Day 2: In the morning, transfer from the hotel to Istanbul airport.

We welcome you in Van airport and drive you to Doğubeyazıt (2 hours).

On our way we will have a look at the beautiful Muradiye waterfalls.

Check in at the hotel in Doğubeyazıt.

After dinner we will have a meeting to check the last details about the ascent.

Day 3: After breakfast, we will go to Mount Ararat /Eli Village at 2200 m. by minibus. Our baggage are carried by horses. Walking up to Camp1 at 3200 m. (3-4 hours). Tea and food will be ready for us.

Night in Camp1 (minimum 0° during the night)

Day 4: Acclimatization walk around 4000 m.(5-6 hours) We come back to Camp1

Night in Camp 1

Day 5: We walk up to Camp 2 at 4150 m. Horses will carry our luggage up there (3-4 hours). Meeting to check the equipment needed for summit day (crampons and warm clothes).

Night in Camp2 (minimum -10° during the night)


Day 6: Summit day. We have breakfast in the middle of the night then start the ascent. No climbing techniques are required but it is a long and strenuous walk. Because the summit is a glacier we will need crampons (for the last 200 m.)

After 4 or 6 hours walk, we finally reach the summit with a breathtaking panoramic view over Turkey, Iran and Armenia. (minimum -15° at the top)

We come back to Camp 2 to have some rest and eat.

Then we get our tents and luggage ready to go down to Camp 1.

Night in Camp 1

Day 7: We have breakfast in Camp 1 and then walk down to Eli Village (2 hours) where our minibus will take us back to our hotel in Doğubeyazıt.

You will have time to get refreshed at the hotel and to leave your luggage there.

We will visit İshak Paşa Palace (Ottoman period).

Then we go back to the hotel to celebrate the ascent!

Day 8: After breakfast in the hotel, we will go to Van to visit Akdamar Island (with a beautiful ancient Armenian church) and the Fortress of Van with a splendid view over the lake of Van.

Day 9: Transfer to Van airport. Then you will catch your transit flight in Istanbul airport.

For security reason, climbing on Mount Ararat requires a strict control from the state, thus you need to get a visa. To get this permit you will need to send us 2 months before the ascent:

-one copy of your passport

-the address of the nearest Turkish consulate where you live.

We will ask for the visa on your behalf, when the application is ready we will inform you and you will be able to pay and pick up your visa at the Turkish consulate.
